Even though the internet can reach a worldwide market and is a good venue to advertise, online marketing still caters some limitations and disadvantages.
Security is a major issue for online marketing. Through the internet, you cannot actually see or prove the actual existence of the business along with its products and services. So your potential consumers are afraid that the ad you have is just fraud. Also, a lot of people think that availing for products and services online is a risk especially for there are already cases where the customer information could be sold for the advertiser’s personal gain and there is no way to stop this. So if your business is not so popular, your targeted consumers’ trust would be really hard to get.
Also, the internet is the home of thousands even up to millions of other advertisements, which could all be your competitors; and to make sure you have an effective ad, you should invest more money at more places and of course more attractive tag lines and offers contained in your ad.
And lastly, some buyers find it easier to choose the product they will avail if they can see, hold or try the product, making another disadvantage for online marketing. It does not give the consumers the chance to actually see, touch or feel the product that you offer since you just give them a picture of it, some brief description and nothing more.
